SEMINOLE -- Burlington Coat Factory is one step closer to opening a store in Seminole Plaza, a 144,000-square-foot strip center at Park and Seminole boulevards. The city's Land Development Review Board approved a zoning variance Monday that allows the Burlington, N.J.-based company to occupy the former Roberds store without having enough parking spaces. According to a city ordinance, the lot would be short 39 spaces. The company also has submitted a site plan "that appears to meet the city's approval," said City Manager Frank Edmunds. Monroe G. Milstein, Burlington's president and chief executive officer, said the company plans to spend $1-million to upgrade the property and hopes to open in the spring.
