Millie and Bill Zack of Largo recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with a family reunion and party at Belleair Country Club. They were married Aug. 24, 1940, in Cicero, Ill. Five of the eight original members of the wedding party attended the anniversary celebration.
They came here in 1972 from Northbrook, Ill., where they owned and operated several businesses. They have two daughters, who live in the area, and four grandchildren. They are members of Tides Golf Club, and she is an active bowler.
Irene and Fritz Roessler of Clearwater celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a party for friends and family. They were married Nov. 4, 1950, in Gross Auheim, Germany.
They came to St. Petersburg in 1951 from their native home and moved in 1952 to Clearwater. He retired as a chef for Maas Brothers/Burdines, and she is a homemaker. They are members of Grace Lutheran Church of Clearwater where they regularly attend the German Service, and he is a member of the Coin Club. They spend part of the year in their cabin in the northeastern Georgia mountains.
Patricia and William Conboy of Clearwater, formerly of Palm Harbor, stretched out their celebration of their 50th wedding anniversary. In July, they and 15 members of their immediate family enjoyed a week-long cruise to Bermuda aboard the Zenith, followed by a visit by their daughters on the actual anniversary date. At the end of this month, the couple will celebrate again with a 16-day cruise from San Diego through the Panama Canal, ending in Miami. They were married Nov. 4, 1950, at St. Margaret's Catholic Church, Middle Village, N.Y.
They came to Palm Harbor in 1989 from Levittown, N.Y., and moved last January to Clearwater. He retired as an air conditioning engineer and worked for the National Broadcasting Co., and she retired as an administrative assistant at the New York Institute of Technology. They have two sons, two daughters and nine grandchildren. They are members of All Saints Catholic Church, Palm Harbor, and he is active in the Knights of Columbus.
Marie and Jack Gibson of Clearwater recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at the Top of the World Civic Center with a dinner and dance attended by 165 friends and families including their daughter, Deborah Conrad, her husband, Geoff, and their son, Bruce Gibson. They were married Nov. 4, 1950, at United Church, Burlington, Ontario.
They came here in 1960 from Canada, and he retired in 1983 after 21 years as an engineer for GTE. He also worked 18 years as a switchman at Canada Bell. They are members of First Christian Church of Clearwater. She is a founder of Special People Aiding Retarded Citizens, where she has volunteered two days a week for 33 years, and he is also a volunteer.
