It's the little things

www.Slipups.com

Some are genuinely funny and some are clear examples of those with too much time on their hands. Here you'll find a catalog of continuity errors submitted by us, the media-obsessed public. From the silver screen to books and TV, you'll find an amazing collection of great and not-so-great gaffes. And there's a voting system, too, where you can while away countless hours of your employer's time this Monday morning.

'C'est fantastique!'

www.VectorLounge.com

In need of some eye candy? Then here's a collection of simply wonderful Flash animations and games. Well, more sort of gamelets if there is such a word. Crank up the volume and go for the full audio and visual experience. I particularly enjoyed the walking skeleton animator, which is a fine example of very smart people at work. Obviously it requires the Flash plug-in from Flash.com.

Happy birthday, PC video

www.QuickTime.com/

Depending on who you ask, Apple's QuickTime multimedia player turns 10 years old sometime about now. The launch party was Dec. 2, 1991, in San Francisco so that's as good as any other official birthday the company can come up with. A lot has happened to multimedia in these past years but, no doubt, at the time this was the stuff of true innovation. And the sincerest form of flattery is imitation, which is why Real's and Microsoft's players still retain elements of that venerable first QuickTime release. Still no Linux player, but at least the geeks have Real Player to bail them out.

Handy Andy

www.AndyCo.com

At first glance, you'd think you're at any fairly well designed company Web site. The gratuitous startup animation, the serious look and feel, the jobs page. But, if you read the copy, it's a tongue-in-cheek spoof of the corporate world. For instance, the employment opportunities page specifically disallows the French (for reasons such as "the whole Jerry Lewis thing"). Awfully dry and funny stuff.

Teaching pet

www.AdoptMe.com

No, not me, a virtual online pet. I'm barely housebroken and do strange things after dark. But here you'll find a bunch of cute animated pets that are perfect for kids. While it might not be the ideal training ground for a real pet, this site reinforces that animals need to be fed, watered and generally taken care of. Good stuff for young minds or simple coworkers. Requires a recent version of Macromedia's Flash.
