Police identify woman killed in Saturday crash

LARGO -- Police have identified the 30-year-old woman killed Saturday in a traffic accident that also injured three others at the entrance to Brittany Bay Apartments.

Michelle Bannardi, who lived at the complex at 1201 Seminole Blvd., was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, which occurred at 3:45 p.m.

Bannardi and Kirstie Baker, who turns 9 years old on Tuesday, were passengers in a 1996 silver Mazda driven by Stuart Nelson Shipp, 37, who has the same address as Bannardi, according to Largo police.

The Mazda collided with a 1989 black Isuzu pickup driven by Larry Williams, 44, of 2738 Roosevelt Blvd. in Clearwater.

Williams was heading north on Seminole Boulevard when he collided with the Mazda heading east on 14th Avenue.

The Mazda was thrown into a pole on the northeast corner of the intersection.

Williams, Shipp and Baker were hospitalized with injuries that were not life-threatening, police said.

    The investigation is continuing.

TAMPA -- Authorities have identified the woman found dead in the Harney Canal as 47-year-old Kathleen Chattin of 8116 N 10th St. in the Sulphur Springs area of Tampa.

Her naked body was discovered Saturday morning by a man fishing off the shore near Harvey Road, just north of Sligh Avenue by the Hillsborough River.

Sheriff's officials said her death was suspicious, but did not release the cause Sunday.
