Brady Bogart is the newest member of the century club.
The sixth-year Citrus girls coach picked up career win No. 100 last week when the Hurricanes routed Ocala Vanguard 5-0. Bogart's team won later in the week, giving him a record of 101-20-10 prior to Monday night's game against Ocala Forest.
"It's nice, but I've been blessed with good talent," Bogart said.
Citrus has been especially good in recent years. Last season, the 'Canes went 21-2-3. The year before that, they were 21-1-2.
GAME OF THE YEAR ... SO FAR: It's early, but Friday night's Citrus-Lecanto game is a big one.
The Hurricanes (4-1) never have lost to a county opponent (the program is 7 years old). But if there's a team capable of ending that streak, Lecanto (2-0-1) is it.
"Lecanto has a lot of people back (from last season)," Bogart said. "They're stacked. These are always good games."
Citrus beat the Panthers three times last year, twice during the regular season and in the district final. In the second meeting, the Hurricanes won 4-3.
"We've been close," Lecanto coach Kevin Towne said. "We've had some really good games with them.
"When you play Citrus, it's fun. You've got two good teams playing back and forth. I'd rather play a game like that than playing and beating somebody 10-0."
Citrus' lone loss this season was to Belleview. Lecanto's blemish is a tie with Dunnellon.
The Hurricanes started the season with an impressive 6-2 win over traditional power Gainesville Eastside, but have not been as sharp in recent games as Bogart would prefer.
One of the Hurricanes' greatest challenges has been finding players to pick up the scoring slack in the absence of all-area forward Amy Bowen, who graduated last spring.
"Offensively, we're going to be tested in some of those crucial games," Bogart said. "The Belleview game was one of them. We had a lot of missed opportunities and lost 3-2.
"We've played well at times, but they just have to put it all together. This is a good week to do it."
Lecanto has played well defensively but squandered several scoring opportunities in its 0-0 tie with Dunnellon. The Panthers outshot the Tigers 36-0.
"We've come back after that," Towne said. "We played a super game against Hernando and played Central tough. When we're on, we're good. When we're not on, we're not so good."
Center-forward Amber Gidden and forward Dani Sowell lead Lecanto with three goals each. Keeper Trisha Chenoweth has two shutouts.
"Citrus is one of the best teams we're going to see this year," Towne said. "I think they're better than they were last year. They're tough, fast and well-skilled. They come after you.
"We have a lot of respect for them. They're going to give us a good game. We have to play an outstanding game, and they have to make a couple of mistakes. I think we've got a good chance."
