The 12th annual Davis Productivity Awards ceremony will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. today at the Embassy Suites-USF in Tampa. State government employees in the Tampa area whose initiative and innovation have helped save taxpayers millions of dollars this year will be honored at the ceremony. The awards program was founded in 1989 by the Davis family of Winn-Dixie Stores Inc. Scott T. Farrell, an attorney with the law firm of Foley & Lardner, has been selected as a participant of the 2001 Leadership Tampa program. The program is designed to acquaint participants with opportunities in the community, to stimulate interest in community activities and encourage participation in community affairs, and introduce participants to other emerging leaders and to the current leadership in the community.

Gregory C. Yadley, a managing partner of Shumaker, Loop & Kendrick, LLP, has been presented with the Individual Business Volunteer Award by the Tampa Bay Business Committee for the Arts. The award is given annually to individuals whose support has had a significant impact on Tampa's arts and cultural community.

The law firm of Carlton Fields announces that shareholder J. Kevin Carey has been selected as the recipient of the Florida Bar President's Pro Bono Service Award for 2001 from the 13th Judicial Circuit. Carey practices general commercial litigation, with an emphasis on telecommunications law, in both state and federal courts.

Northside Mental Health Center welcomes two new hires to its staff: Barbara DeMilio, MSW, as director of outpatient services. In her new position, she will oversee multiple programs working with children, adults and families. She has experience in program development, supervision, budget management and community relations. Judy Philo joins Northside as the director of clinical records. She has more than 30 years of experience in health information management. Her background also includes experience in utilization review and quality management.

Winston W. "Bud" Gardner, Jr., has been appointed chief operating officer of the engineering firm Tilden Lobnitz Cooper. In his new position, he will be responsible for managing the project operations of the firm and the divisional operations throughout the state. Gardner, a 33-year engineering veteran, has extensive structural and civil engineering experience in aerospace and military projects, including major aerospace projects at the Kennedy Space Center and Cape Canaveral Air Force Station.
