The 5-foot-11 center recorded a quadruple double, finishing with 11 points, 11 rebounds, 11 steals and 10 blocks. Albury is a two-sport star. She was the Times All-Citrus/Hernando volleyball player of the year after leading the counties with 312 kills and 98 blocks. RUNNINGDoes Jingle Bell 5K event sound good? The third annual Jingle Bell 5K is scheduled for Dec. 8 at 11:30 a.m. in downtown Inverness. The race will precede the city's Christmas Parade. HORSESHOESMaking a pitch for throwers Every Monday at 6 p.m., adults are invited to try their luck at pitching at the Civic Circle Courts. GOLFSchoolastic Classic tournament is set The sixth annual Schoolastic Classic Golf Tournament, hosted by the Women of Sugarmill Woods, is scheduled for Jan. 14 at Sugarmill Woods Country Club. The format is two better balls per foursome. The event begins with a 9 a.m. shotgun start. The $45 entry fee includes carts, lunch and prizes. For a donation to the association's scholarship fund, a professional will hit one of your tee shots. The maximum handicap allowance is 40 for 18-holers and 20 for nine-holers. BASKETBALLElks club offers shot at Hoop Shoot West Citrus Elks of Homosassa will have its annual Hoop Shoot at Lecanto Middle School on Dec. 8 at 1 p.m. The event is part of the national free-throw shooting competition for boys and girls 8-13 and is a major event in the Elks Youth Activity Program. Last year, more than 70 shooters participated. Boys and girls will compete in the 8-9, 10-11 and 12-13 age divisions. Each contestant gets 25 shot attempts. The boy and girl in each group with the best score advances to the district competition. All costs for travel and accommodations for winning contestants and parents are covered by the Elks. This shoot is for children in public and private schools on the west side of Citrus County. For information, call 382-1138. YOUTHJunior Panther league is seeking players Spots are available in the Junior Panther Basketball League. The league is for Citrus County boys and girls ages 5-12 (as of Jan. 12). If there is enough interest, a separate girls league will be formed. Games will be played at Lecanto High School on Saturdays, begining Jan. 19. The league ends Feb. 23. Starting times for games are 8, 9 and 10 a.m. Registration forms can be picked up at Lecanto High. Additionally, an open registration is scheduled for Dec. 8 and Dec. 15 from 8:30-10:30 a.m. at the school. The cost is $30. For information, call 746-2334 and ask for Ron Allan or Chris Nichols.
