Fine art at afforable prices

If you're serious about collecting contemporary fine art, check out the Graphicstudio Benefit Sale, offering discounts of 25 to 60 percent, during a one-day-only open house from 7 to 10 p.m. Friday.

Graphicstudio is a collaborative, research-oriented workshop that is part of the University of South Florida. It brings in outstanding artists to explore new ways of making editionable artworks with the aid of Graphicstudio's master printers and equipment. Since its founding in 1968, world-renowned artists Robert Rauschenberg, James Rosenquist, Robert Mapplethorpe, Graciela Iturbide, Chuck Close, Georg Baselitz and others have come to the atelier.

Graphicstudio is the only university-affiliated visual arts institution in the country to have its work archived permanently at the National Gallery of Art in Washington.

Among works available is Father and Son Song by Sandro Chia, shown. A multicolor woodcut, it was created in 1987 in an edition of just 12.

To see a complete listing, visit Web site www.graphicstudio.usf.edu. Graphicstudio is at 3702 Spectrum Blvd. on USF's Tampa campus; for directions call (813) 974-3503.
