Police reportsTimes staff writers © St. Petersburg Times, published November 30, 2000 Former lawyer jailed, accused of taking dogBROOKSVILLE -- A disbarred lawyer and Spring Hill businessman is back in jail after officials say he stole a man's dog. William T. Charnock, 56, of 10154 Dunkirk Road in Spring Hill, was arrested Tuesday at the Hernando County Government Center. According to records, Charnock faces one count of grand theft and one count of trespassing. Records say he went onto the property of Mark Justice, 396 W. North Ave., and stole the family dachshund. Authorities recovered the dog. Records did not indicate a motive, and Assistant State Attorney Bill Catto could not be reached for comment. Charnock was most recently arrested in June and charged with violating his probation. Before that, he was charged in February with tax theft after authorities say he under-reported the amount of sales tax he collected from the apartment complex and three restaurants he owned. Charnock closed the three restaurants -- Barrington Restaurant and the Copper Penny Pub, both in Spring Hill, and Club Chicago in Tarpon Springs -- voluntarily. Police: Teens involve boy, 11, in theftsSPRING HILL -- Three teens face charges after authorities say they threatened an 11-year-old boy and forced him to take part in several thefts. Tommy J. Moore, 19, Ricky W. Moore, 18, both of 7071 Lang St. east of Brooksville and a 16-year-old, whose name the Times is withholding because of his age, are accused of pressuring the 11-year-old to steal wheel cleaners from a Wal-Mart on Nov. 28 and then break into a car in the Wal-Mart parking lot, 13300 Cortez Blvd, Spring Hill. At the time of the incident, Hernando County sheriff's deputies were patroling the area and pulled over the car containing the teens and the boy. At one point, the driver, Tommy Moore, nearly hit the patrol car trying to get away, the report said. He faces one count of aggravated assault as well as criminal conspiracy to commit theft, principal to committing a vehicle burglary, and contributing to the delinquency of a child. Ricky Moore and the 16-year-old face the same charges as Tommy Moore, except for the assault count.
