Woods meets with PGA official

Tiger Woods seems well on his way to making peace with PGA Tour commissioner Tim Finchem, with the two holding what both described as a very positive meeting.

Woods, who recently expressed concern about controlling some of his marketing rights, said Wednesday that "pretty much everything" had been resolved during a meeting with Finchem two days earlier.

"It was very positive, very upbeat. There was no hostility at all," Woods said. "My relationship with Tim has definitely improved. He was very candid, and so was I."

Woods stunned PGA Tour officials this month when he said the tour was taking financial advantage of him with policies that controlled his rights.

Woods and Finchem discussed player marketing rights, commercial use of player images and the Internet.

Katie Spithill finished two points back and also qualified for the next round robin. The top team in Division B was skippered by Shirley Robertson, with Marie Bjorling second on a tie-breaker. AUTOS: NASCAR executive vice president Brian France said the long-discussed 24-hour television channel is still a work in progress. "Until we get more detail, it's still an important initiative for us," France said. "We think we will complete the NASCAR Channel at some time in the future. But right now we're focusing on the core rights and the Daytona 500, which Fox will light off the NASCAR coverage in 2001." Fox, one of three networks involved in a $2.4-billion television rights deal that begins next season, has helped develop the idea. NASCAR officials said in July a channel devoted to stock car racing was at least one year away.
