Mustang Invitational

WHEN: Friday and Saturday.

WHERE: Northside Christian School, 7777 62nd Ave. N.

ADMISSION: Friday -- $4 for adults, $2 for students, children 5 and under are free; Saturday -- $6 for adults (all-day pass), $4 for students, children 5 and under are free.

TEAMS: Boca Ciega, Bradenton Lakewood Ranch, Clearwater Central Catholic, Clearwater, Dixie Hollins, Jesuit, Lehigh Acres Lehigh, Northeast, Northside Christian, Osceola, St. Petersburg Catholic, Tampa Catholic, Tampa Prep, Temple Heights, Wesley Chapel, Zephyrhills.

SCHEDULE: Wrestling begins at 5:30 p.m. Friday with the preliminaries and the first round of wrestlebacks. Wrestling resumes at 8:30 a.m. Saturday and goes through the day.

OUTLOOK: Host Northside Christian does not have defending champion Largo and Pinellas Park returning. Both schools decided to wrestle in the East Lake Invitational. But Northside did add small school toughies Temple Heights and Jesuit, both of which placed in the top 20 at the Class A state tournament last season. Also returning is Northeast's Donte Whiting, last year's tournament MVP.

East Lake Invitational

WHEN: Friday and Saturday

WHERE: 1300 Silver Eagle Drive.

ADMISSION: $4 each day.

TEAMS: Bradenton Manatee, Bradenton Southeast, East Lake, Gaither, Gibbs, Gulf, Hillsborough, Hudson, Lakeland Jenkins, Largo, Lyman, Palm Harbor University, Pinellas Park, St. Petersburg, Tarpon Springs.

SCHEDULE: Wrestling starts at 5 p.m. Friday with preliminaries and the first round of wrestlebacks. Wrestling resumes at 10 a.m. Saturday with the semifinals and wrestlebacks. The consolations are at 6, and the finals are at 7:30.

OUTLOOK: This tournament already was tough with defending champion Bradenton Manatee returning. But it is even tougher with Pinellas Park and Largo participating. Last season, host East Lake and Tarpon Springs battled for third place. The Spongers edged the Eagles by a half-point.
