    Fall from roof knocks out worker

    TARPON SPRINGS -- A construction worker fell 10 to 12 feet Thursday afternoon and hit his head on concrete, knocking him unconscious, fire officials said. Jason Allen, 26, of Seminole was working on a building that will be part of an office park near U.S. 19 and Pine Street at about 1:30 p.m. when he fell off the edge of the roof or a ladder, said Kevin Bowman, deputy chief of the Tarpon Springs Fire Department. Allen, who works for F & S Frame and Trim of Palm Harbor was flown to Bayfront Medical Center, where he was treated and released.

    Restaurant bookkeeper accused of theft

    LARGO -- A 44-year old Clearwater man has been charged been accused of stealing more than $50,000 from his employer, Ker Inc., the parent company of the Winghouse restaurant in Largo, police say. Restaurant bookkeeper Charles Eugene Gentry II of 1640 St. Paul's Drive arranged unauthorized bonuses to himself during the past 11 months, said Largo police. Winghouse owner Crawford Ker, a Dunedin High graduate who played professional football for the Dallas Cowboys, said he had no comment. Gentry was charged with grand theft and released Tuesday.

    Hospital dispenses advice on heart, health

    LARGO -- Is that pain in your chest indigestion or a heart attack? Should you see your physician? These and other questions will be answered in a workshop today from 10 a.m. to noon at the Sun Coast Hospital, Largo. The workshop, entitled "Healthwise for Life," will be in the main-floor meeting room at the hospital, 2025 Indian Rocks Road, Largo. Cost: $10, which includes a 400-page medical self-help book.
