THE TOUR: Home tour sponsored by the Safety Harbor Museum of Regional History.

WHEN: Noon to 4 p.m. Dec. 8. Tickets are available in advance at Renaissance Real Estate, 552 Main St., Safety Harbor, or at the museum, 329 Bayshore Blvd. S. On tour day tickets will be available at the museum. Price: $25 members, $35 others.

INFORMATION: The museum, (727) 726-1668. THE HOMES: "Some are of historical interest; some, there was great local interest, and everyone was just dying to have a look inside," said Amanda Edenfield, the museum's assistant director.

The homes include a Bayshore Boulevard contemporary home with a widow's walk and a great water view; two artists' homes (Kiaralinda and Todd Ramquist's local legend, the Whimsy House, also known as the Bowling Ball House; and the home of transplanted New York artist and decorator Michaele Vollbracht); and three historic homes: an 1889 house that is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, a 1908 Victorian and a 1922 Colonial Revival modeled on a plantation house and built in honor of Confederate war veteran Capt. James Tucker.

"This is our first year, and we hope it will be an annual event if this goes well," Edenfield said.

"There are so many houses that are great for touring here in Safety Harbor, and so many people wanted to have a chance to have a peek inside."

The tour "brings in people who might not have come to the museum before because they think history is something they're not interested in," Edenfield said. "It's not just memorizing dates."
