By Times staff reports Two teens arrested on firebomb chargesHOLIDAY -- Two teenagers suspected in the explosion of homemade bombs on a loading dock at the Knights of Columbus were arrested Thursday, deputies said. A 17-year-old faces a charge of making and discharging a firebomb, and a 15-year-old faces a charge of making a firebomb, deputies said. The Times is withholding the boys' names because of their ages. Deputies were called Thursday morning to the building at 2040 Grand Blvd., and a sheriff's dog tracked a scent to the 17-year-old's house in Holiday. The bomb consisted of a bottle, a piece of cloth and gasoline, deputies said. No one was hurt in the incident and sheriff's deputies did not report any damage to the building. The boys were taken to the county Juvenile Assessment Center in Land O'Lakes. Deputy still in critical condition after wreckTAMPA -- Pasco County sheriff's Cpl. Jeffrey Smedley remained in critical condition Friday night at St. Joseph's Hospital, officials there said. Smedley, 40, was injured early Thursday in an off-duty motorcycle accident in Hillsborough County. Driver accused of endangering childHUDSON -- A man was arrested Thursday night after a mother told deputies that he sped and spun his car with her 8-year-old son unbuckled in the front seat. Kenneth Schneider, 41, of 13732 Judy Drive faces a charge of aggravated abuse and neglect of a child, deputies said. Deputies did not report any injuries to the boy. According to deputy reports, the mother and a neighbor saw Schneider spin the car, then slam the brakes. Schneider was being held Friday night at the county jail in Land O'Lakes on $1,000 bail.
