PALM HARBOR -- Pinellas County sheriff's deputies are searching for a man who robbed a Palm Harbor Publix, 33343 U.S. 19, at 3 a.m. Friday. A man wearing a hooded maroon sweat shirt, black ski mask and black gloves broke the front window of the store, confronted employees with a handgun and escorted them to the store's safe, said sheriff's spokesman Sgt. Greg Tita. The gunman then demanded the manager open the safe, but it could not be opened. So employees gave the man money from a cash register, and he fled the scene. Anyone with information about this crime may call Crime Stoppers at (800) 873-TIPS (873-8477).
