School district officials will present eight school boundary proposals Tuesday night at a community meeting where residents can comment on them. The boundaries are for the two new schools in the Nine Eagles area, Bryant Elementary and Farnell Middle School. So far, a committee of parents has come up with three proposals for the elementary school and five for the middle school. The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. at Alonso High School, 8302 Montague St. Also, the Hillsborough County Library Advisory Board will recommend a site for a new library in the Westchase area to the Board of County Commissioners. That meeting will be Wednesday at 9 a.m. at the County Center. Hunter's Green watch program wins awardHUNTER'S GREEN -- Hunter's Green Neighborhood Watch has been selected as one of the National Association of Town Watch's outstanding programs for 2001. The award was based on the community's huge attendance at National Night Out activities. This year's event, "Picnic in the Park," drew about 900 people. Organizer Carol Poland said she was "pleasantly surprised" by the honor. For years, Hunter's Green has had the most active Neighborhood Watch program in the city of Tampa. Picnic in the Park features police dog demonstrations, a petting zoo and pony rides.
