CHINESE RESTAURANT EXPANDS: China Taste, the third in a family-owned chain of Asian storefront restaurants, has opened in Northgate Square shopping center. The restaurant, at 3967 Van Dyke Road, replaces an ice cream shop. It has "authentic Hunan, Szechuan and Cantonese cuisine."

Owner Jin Tau said it's the third restaurant she and her husband have opened since moving here from New York five years ago. The others are China One, near Northdale's Target store, and Peking, on Northdale Boulevard, she said.

China Taste is open for lunch and dinner daily. For information, call 960-2828.

NAIL SALON OPENS: Bali Nail Spa opened Thursday at 3969 Van Dyke Road at the corner of N Dale Mabry Highway, next to Publix. The salon offers manicures, pedicures, waxing, facials, and acrylic, pink and white and gel nails. Walk-ins are welcome. Hours are 9:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday. For information, call 908-3576.

Town 'N Country

STARBUCKS COMING: A Starbucks with a drive-through plans to open in a few months near the AMC theatre complex on Anderson Road. The store will have 1,600 square feet.

Carrollwood

ITALIAN EATERY REOPENING: Macaroni Grill plans to reopen Jan. 17 at N Dale Mabry Highway and Ehrlich Road. The restaurant was destroyed by fire in May and is being rebuilt. It will have a similar look and atmosphere as the Macaroni Grill in New Tampa. Hours are 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday. Call 264-6676.

Northdale

ASIAN RESTAURANT OPEN: Asian Buffet has opened in the Colonial Promenade plaza on Northdale Boulevard, off N Dale Mabry Highway, in the space formerly occupied by Sonny's Real-Pit Barbecue. Hours are 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Sunday. Call 908-8535.

New Tampa

FLORIST OPENS: Awesome Blossom floral designs has open in the Walk shopping center at Bruce B. Downs Boulevard and Highwoods Preserve Parkway. Hours are 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, and by appointment only on Sunday. Call 632-2900.
