THE FIRST WORD

It would be understandable if Bengals quarterback Jon Kitna got a headache reviewing film of the Bucs defense. One of Kitna's worst days in the NFL came against the Bucs on Nov. 28, 1999. Kitna's Seahawks were off to an 8-2 start with five consecutive wins. The Bucs picked off Kitna five times on the way to a 16-3 victory. But Bucs coach Tony Dungy said Kitna isn't piloting the same kind of offense: "It's a different system and is a much more run-oriented system than he had in Seattle."

DID YOU KNOW?

In case you have been under a rock, here's the annual news bulletin: The Bucs are 0-20 when the temperature at the start of the game is colder than 40 degrees. Last season, the Bucs had three chances to snap the streak but lost in Chicago (37 degrees), Green Bay (15) and Philadelphia (34).

GOT TRIVIA SKILLS?

Keyshawn Johnson has 76 receptions. He needs how many more to set a personal best for catches in a season?

A. 14 C. 28

STATISTICALLY SPEAKING

0 -- Points by Bengals offense in past seven quarters.

7 -- Offensive turnovers by Bengals in last week's loss at Cleveland.

18 -- Interceptions by Bucs this season.

WHEN LAST THEY MET

Tampa Bay's 35-0 beating of the Bengals on Dec. 27, 1998, was the most dominating road win in team history. Needing to win to keep a slim playoff possibility alive on the final day of the regular season, the Bucs got three touchdowns from Mike Alstott and a 50-yard touchdown from Trent Dilfer to Robb Thomas. They forced two special-teams turnovers and recorded two interceptions. The bad news came when the Cardinals defeated the Chargers to eliminate Tampa Bay.
