'Noles extra points

One last honor

FSU recognized its 14 departing seniors, including starting safeties Chris Hope and Abdual Howard and star receiver Javon Walker. Of the class, four (receiver Atrews Bell, tailback Davy Ford and offensive linemen Ronald Boldin and Otis Duhart) have earned their degrees, five are on track to finish this month and the rest are expected to receive theirs by the end of the summer.

Sign of the times

In mid September, when the FSU-Georgia Tech game would have matched undefeated, Top 10 teams, Seminole officials distributed credentials to USA Today, the Sporting News, Sports Illustrated, CNN/SI and representatives of the Fiesta, Sugar and Orange bowls. None chose to use them this time.

Familiar face

Former FSU All-America defensive lineman Corey Simon, now a standout with the Philadelphia Eagles, had the rare opportunity to return to his alma mater. The Eagles played Thursday night.

Special presenter

Former Bucs quarterback Jack Thompson was at the game Saturday on behalf of the Seattle Bowl, extending the official invitation to Georgia Tech for its game.

Nice pants

For the first time all season, the Seminoles, at the seniors' behest, wore all garnet. The last time they wore those uniforms was Sept. 9, 2000, against -- who else? -- Georgia Tech.
