Feeling no pain

UF defensive end Alex Brown, who left in the second half with a sprained ankle, was healthy enough to jog around the field waving a Florida flag during the post-game celebration.

Inspiration

Former UF quarterback Doug Johnson, a rookie who will make his first NFL start today for the Atlanta Falcons, was on the sideline along with former Gators Lawrence Wright, Ed Chester and Deac Story.

Right state, wrong team

Referee Doyle Jackson drew loud disapproval from fans of both teams when he flipped on his microphone and announced: "Timeout, Georgia." He quickly corrected himself.

No role too small

Years from now, senior quarterback Jesse Palmer can say he played in UF's SEC title-game victory. Palmer took one snap in the second quarter, handing off to tailback Robert Gillespie on the second play of a series.

Orange and Blue, too

The Georgia Dome was a sea of orange and blue, but nearly 70 percent of the 73,427 were Auburn fans. The Tigers must have bought all those tickets from disgusted Alabama fans.
