Illegal racing brings citations, impoundments

TAMPA -- Sheriff's deputies broke up an illegal racing event, issued 194 citations and impounded 12 cars early Sunday in the Progress Village area after months of complaints from local business owners. The citations were for trespassing and attending an illegal racing event. The event took place on Eagle Palm Drive, which is off 78th Street and Falkenburg Road. Authorities said a task force was organized to handle the problem after the complaints.
