BEARS: They managed a field goal on two forays inside the Packers 25 early in the game. ... Running back James Allen gained 80 yards on 17 carries and is 80 yards shy of 1,000. ... Attendance at Soldier Field was 56,146, meaning there were 10,798 no-shows.

CARDINALS: Running back Michael Pittman took the loss hard. "Just to lose is frustrating, and to lose to the Bengals is even more frustrating," he said. "I mean, the Cincinnati Bengals ... I can't say anything bad about them because we lost to them, but it hurts big-time losing to the Cincinnati Bengals."

COWBOYS: Running back Emmitt Smith rushed for 80 yards on 20 attempts and finished 13 yards shy of joining Barry Sanders as the only players to gain at least 1,000 in 10 consecutive seasons. "Those things are good, but right now they don't mean that much," Smith said. "That we're 4-9 today makes it very sour."

EAGLES: Quarterback Donovan McNabb, who scrambled for 125 yards in a victory over Washington on Nov. 26, ran seven times for 37 yards against the Titans. He was 18-of-39 for 239 yards but didn't throw a touchdown for the first time in 11 games.

FALCONS: Wide receiver Shawn Jefferson has a career-high 57 receptions. He had 54 with New England in 1997. ... They have been outscored 71-24 the past two weeks, prompting running back Jamal Anderson to plead forgiveness. "I would like to apologize to the people who even bothered to come out and watch us play," he said. "It was embarrassing, tremendously embarrassing."

49ERS: Their 45 points were a season high. ... Wide receiver Jerry Rice extended his streak to 221 games with a reception. ... Quarterback Jeff Garcia completed 18 of 32 passes for 323 yards, his fourth 300-yard game of the season.

GIANTS: Players gave a game ball to coach Jim Fassel, who audaciously guaranteed the playoffs when his team was struggling a week earlier and followed that with a gag order. ... They didn't commit a penalty until a holding call with 9:20 left.

LIONS: Coach Gary Moeller lost for the first time in four games since Bobby Ross resigned Nov. 5.

PACKERS: Quarterback Brett Favre started his 138th straight game. ... Favre and wide receiver Antonio Freeman hooked up for their 50th touchdown. ... Wide receiver Bill Schroeder caught six passes for 119 yards, his third 100-yard game this season and fifth of his career.

PANTHERS: With three field goals, kicker Joe Nedney has made 19 in a row, the longest current streak in the NFL. ... Quarterback Steve Beuerlein eclipsed the 3,000-yard mark for the third consecutive season. He has 3,183. ... The NFC leaders in fumble recoveries had three to give them 18 for the season, breaking the franchise record of 16 in 1996.

RAMS: The defense had its best game of the season, allowing 237 total yards after giving up 400 or more in five of 13 games. ... Running back Marshall Faulk, who had 94 yards, needs 75 for his fourth consecutive 1,000-yard season and sixth in his career.

REDSKINS: They lost at home in December for the first time since 1994. ... Coach Norv Turner, fired Monday, called 49 pass plays and 13 runs, even though the Giants defense repeatedly gave quarterback Brad Johnson little time to throw.

SAINTS: Running back Ricky Williams, who broke his left ankle Oct. 15 against Carolina, had the cast removed Friday and was walking on the sideline without crutches or a cane. ... They had allowed more than 21 points three times this season before giving up 38 to the Broncos. Their fourth-ranked defense allowed 483 yards, 283 rushing. ... Wide receiver Joe Horn had 170 yards on 10 receptions, giving him 1,059 yards and making him New Orleans' first player to reach 1,000 yards receiving since Quinn Early in 1995.

VIKINGS: Daunte Culpepper broke Fran Tarkenton's 34-year-old team record of 376 yards rushing in a season by a quarterback. Culpepper has rushed for 391 yards. ... They had a ceremony at halftime Thursday to honor their 40 seasons in the league. Tarkenton, Chuck Foreman and Carl Eller attended, as did former NBA star Michael Jordan.
