RENEA PHELPS, Sickles

Scored 32 points in a 62-49 victory over Wharton on Friday to become the first basketball player -- girl or boy -- in school history to reach the 1,000-point mark. The 6-foot senior forward now has 1,027 points for her career.

CARL JONES, Armwood

Earned the game ball in the Hawks' 17-14 state-playoff football win over Lake Gibson last Friday night. Jones rushed for 118 yards and a touchdown in the game that put Armwood into the semifinals.

MIKE MARTINEZ, Tampa Catholic

Selected MVP of the Mustang Invitational Wrestling tournament last weekend. He pinned all four of his opponents in capturing the title in the 145-pound weight class.

RUSS 'ROCKY' COZART, Temple Heights

The eighth-grade wrestler went undefeated, beating two opponents who placed at state last year to win the 119-pound championship in the Mustang Invitational.

DAVID CRAIG, Temple Heights

Proved age doesn't always matter in some events as the seventh-grade wrestler beat seniors and juniors in going 4-0 and winning the 112-pound weight class title at the Mustang Invitational.
