CITRUS HIGH MARCHING CANES HAVE CHAMPIONSHIP SEASON: The Citrus High Marching Canes participated in the 2001 Florida Marching Band Championships held in Orlando on Nov. 17 and placed second runnerup in Class AA. This is the highest finish ever for a Citrus High School Band in state competition.

The band also participated in the Florida Band Association Assessment at River Ridge High School on Nov. 1O and for the fourth year in a row was rated superior. The band scored superiors in all categories including music, general effect, drum major, auxiliary, and percussion.

CITRUS COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT EMPLOYEES CONTRIBUTE TO UNITED WAY: Citrus County School District employees, during October, made their yearly contributions to the United Way. The amount contributed to the 2002 United Way of Citrus County campaign was $25,946.00. Superintendent David Hickey and representatives from schools and work sites throughout the district recently presented the check to Dawn Arline, executive director of United Way of Citrus County.
