Clubhouse YMCA taking registration
The Bob Sierra Family YMCA, 4029 Northdale Blvd., is taking registration for the Clubhouse YMCA Program designed for its 8- to 12-year-old facility members. The program offers daily activities, sports and games, computer access and snacks. Club activities include the Mad Scientist, Creative Craft, Cooking, Olympic Games, Hoop-It-Up and the Homework Club. Clubhouse YMCA runs from 2 to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday while schools are in session. Bus transportation is provided daily from Claywell, Schwarzkopf, Essrig and Northwest elementary schools to the YMCA. The cost is $32 per week (for facility members only). Men's club accepting new members
The Men's Club of Sun City Center is accepting new members. Membership is open to all local male residents. The club hosts a luncheon meeting with a featured speaker at 11:30 a.m. on the third Wednesday of each month. The cost is $10 per person. For information, call Bob at (813) 633-7549.
Author to hold book signing Saturday Florence Anthony will appear at Barnes & Noble-Tampa, 213 N Dale Mabry Highway, to sign copies of her debut novel, Keeping Secrets, Telling Lies. Anthony, a celebrity gossip maven, will autograph books from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday. The novel revolves around the mystery of multiple murders that take place over a seven-day period. Hillsborough County Commissioners will hold a dedication of the Jan Kaminis Platt Regional Library, 3910 S Manhattan Ave., at 11 a.m. Monday. The library, the 22nd in the county's library system, is named in honor of Platt, who has served the community for 24 years as a Tampa City Council member and as a Hillsborough County commissioner. The library will house major artwork featuring hand-carved manatee benches, a panther portico announcing the children's section, and artwork on paper and canvas. The 16th annual drive-through Christmas pageant sponsored by First Church of the Nazarene will be open from 6:45 to 9:30 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The free pageant, "Tampa Christmas Lane," chronicles Christ's birth using beautiful and professional props, lighting, music, live animals and a cast of about 300 costumed characters. All businesses and residents throughout the historic district of Ybor City are invited to participate in the first annual "Lights on Main Street." The family event will begin at 6:30 p.m. Friday at Centro Ybor featuring "Caroling on Main Street" and will continue throughout the district until the awards ceremony, which starts at 8:30 p.m. The celebration to kick off the holiday season will feature local schools and musicians caroling, community-wide lights, decorations, and other festivities. The Centre For Women, 305 S Hyde Park Ave., is offering a relationships class for women from 9 a.m. to noon Monday and Tuesday. The two-day class, "Understanding Self in Relationships," will focus on relationships between family, self and others.
