By MARY ELMORE Advent in the parkCelebrate the holiday season with Bible readings and Christmas songs. The Word of Life Lutheran Mission is hosting a series of three Sunday morning Christmas devotions and hymns led by pastor Jeff Wilhelm. "Advent in the Park" offers fellowship and refreshments for everyone. Word of Life is a new Lutheran mission serving the upper Tampa Bay region. The service starts at 8:30 a.m. Sunday and will be held again at the same time Dec. 16 and 23 at BayBridge Park, on the north side of Linebaugh Avenue just west of Montague Street. For information, call 961-0582. Santa arrives by fire truckSanta's coming to town on a fire truck along with plenty of candy canes for everyone at Christmas Card Lane. The Lutz and Maniscalco elementary choirs will sing carols and there'll be a Christmas concert from the Buchanan Buccaneer Middle School Jazz Band. Lutz guv'na Helen Kinyon will officially light the Christmas tree in Memorial Park and Christmas Card Lane. Festive decorations consisting of billboard sized sheets of plywood in a holiday motif will adorn the lane. These holiday cards are painted by area families, schools, businesses and organizations. The celebration also includes plenty of cookies, hot chocolate and other beverages. The event is from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday by the Lutz Train Depot at U.S. 41 and Lutz-Lake Fern Road. The event is sponsored by the Lutz Volunteer Fire Department, St. Petersburg Times and GFWC Lutz/Land O'Lakes Woman's Club. For information 949-7481. Jailhouse rockin' holiday bustCode Blues mixes electric blues with a little southern and classic rock. This five-piece band has been playing together for three years and consists of four members of the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office and a Tampa police officer. The band first played at the Red, White and Blues show in September, a benefit to raise money for the families of police and firefighters who died at the World Trade Center in New York. Band member Chuck Westbrook wrote a song, The Thin Blue Line, after Officer Lois Marrero was killed by a fleeing bank robber in July. The performance is at 8 tonight at Skipper's Smokehouse, 910 Skipper Road, near Nebraska Avenue. Tickets are $5 at the door.
