A closer look: one Hillsborough church

Carrollwood Seventh-day Adventist Church

LOCATION: 10619 Henderson Road, Tampa (813) 962-7493

SERVICES: Worship service begins Saturday at noon after a Biblical Sabbath. Bible study starts at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday.

HISTORY: The church began in 1956 on Horatio Street in Tampa. The building is owned by Tampa Unity Church. The Seventh-day congregation moved to the Carrollwood location in 1986.

LEADERSHIP: Ben Holdsworth took over as pastor about two years ago. He has been married to Anni for the past several years. They do not have children.

RECENT SERMON TOPIC OR THEME: Lifestyles of the Rich in Spirit: making a comparison of the world's success and the Christian's view of success.

MEMBERSHIP: About 90.

NOTABLE: This congregation meets each Saturday because they believe that the seventh day (Sunday) is reserved for rest. This sets them apart from mainline Christianity.
