Clearwater firefighter is charged in Pasco stabbing

NEW PORT RICHEY -- A 44-year-old Clearwater firefighter was charged Friday with aggravated battery, accused of stabbing another man in a Pasco parking lot Nov. 22, deputies said.

Scott D. Rebello, 36, of Tarpon Springs told deputies that he followed a dark blue pickup truck that cut off his truck on U.S. 19 in Port Richey.

Rebello followed the truck into the parking lot of the Embassy Crossing shopping center and smashed the pickup's driver's window, officials said. The driver, later identified as James Wayne Thomas of Clearwater, stabbed Rebello four times, according to reports. Rebello was taken to a local hospital and released.

Thomas called the Pasco County Sheriff's Office after the incident, said sheriff's spokesman Kevin Doll.

Deputies arrested Thomas on Friday. He was released from the county jail Friday on $5,000 bail.

    Man faces child pornography charges

Pinellas County detectives have arrested a Largo man on child pornography charges based on accusations that he snapped nude photos of a young girl. Detectives began investigating Rybicki after the girl's mother called authorities.

The girl told a detective that Rybicki showed her pictures of nude girls, which were on his computer, according to an arrest report. The child said Rybicki then took photos of her in which he pulled up her skirt, pulled her underwear down and pulled up her shirt, arrest reports state. Rybicki was being held at the Pinellas County jail Friday evening on $25,000 bail.
