Highs and lows

HIGHS

GEORGE STEINBRENNER AND DEREK BELL: The Yankees owner and the King High graduate donated money to help fund the Chamberlain High football team's trip to the state final in Tallahassee. Now only if Bell's union and Steinbrenner's fellow owners could get together like this... Never mind. That's asking too much.

NIKOLAI KHABIBULIN: After missing nearly two seasons in a contract dispute, the Lightning goalie has rounded into form nicely, leading goaltenders who have played more than a dozen games in save percentage.

USF BASKETBALL: The team was off to a 7-0 start before Saturday's showdown with Florida brought hoopla to the Sun Dome.

LOWS

BUD SELIG: If baseball's economic system is so bad, why do John Henry and Jeff Loria want to stay in the ownership club so badly? Why are people lining up to pay hundreds of millions for the Red Sox?

VINNY LECAVALIER'S TRADE DEMAND: Two words: Brett Hull. Two more: Chris Pronger. Both were traded by their original teams then became superstars. Let's hope this situation can be resolved before another team reaps what the Lightning has sown.
