TAMPA -- Two vehicle crashes left two people dead and at least three seriously injured on Saturday afternoon, authorities said.
The first crash happened at 12:14 p.m. on Kennedy Avenue, Tampa police said. A 1993 Honda driving south on N Boulevard made a left turn onto Kennedy. The car, which had the green light, was struck on the passenger side by a 1995 Ford Ranger pickup.
The Honda spun around and struck a motorcycle; the driver of the cycle was able to jump out of the way before impact, police said.
The Honda also struck a 2002 Chevrolet sport utility vehicle.
Police said the passenger of the Honda died. The passenger's name was not released Saturday night pending notification of relatives. The drivers of the Honda and the motorcycle received minor injuries and were treated at the scene.
The second crash happened at 4 p.m., on Interstate 275 northbound near Livingston Road in northern Hillsborough County. One car was involved, said authorities.
According to Hillsborough Fire Rescue, one person died at the scene. Three other people in the car were flown to St. Joseph's Hospital with trauma injuries.
The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the crash, and did not provide any further details.
