2001 didn't have a festival, but sponsors and volunteers for various committees are needed to bring it back in 2002.

SEMINOLE -- The 33rd Seminole Pow Wow Festival is three months away, but the call is out for sponsors, food vendors, arts and crafts vendors and parade participants.

The festival, which was skipped this year because of renovations and construction at the Seminole Recreation Center, will be March 8 and 9.

Jimmy Johnson, executive director of the Greater Seminole Area Chamber of Commerce, is in charge of getting sponsors for the citywide event. Sponsors can donate $100, $250 or $500 and will receive certain privileges, including the company's name on all published advertisements. For sponsorship information, call Johnson before Feb. 1 at the chamber office, 392-3245.

Food vendors can call Bob Tedford at 397-2307; for arts and crafts, call Jelene Mingo, 397-2249; and those who wish to participate in the parade can contact Bob Cadzow at 392-2098. The deadline is also Feb. 1.

On Nov. 13, the Seminole City Council approved the sale of beer by a non-profit organization at the 2002 Pow Wow Festival. Johnson said groups that apply will have their names put in a hat and one will be drawn.

The City Council also voted on Nov. 27 to let Great Show Fireworks Inc. provide fireworks on the second day of the festival, March 9. The contract with Great Show is for $4,250.

Volunteers are needed for various committees before, during and after the festival. If interested, call Pow Wow Festival chairman Doc Kinsey at 391-0095.
