New Port Richey's John Tuccio began the month of December by finishing in the top five in two 5K races.
Tuccio's first race of the month was at the 11th Annual Lakefront Classic in Palm Harbor on Dec. 1. Tuccio finished second overall in 17 minutes, 41 seconds.
At the 5K on the Fairway in Oldsmar on Dec. 8, Tuccio finished fourth overall and first in the 14-and-under age group in 17:48.
New Port Richey's Brianna Dougherty was the top Pasco female finisher at both the Lakefront Classic and the 5K on the Fairway.
Dougherty finished 33rd overall at the Lakefront Classic in 22:44 and 32nd overall and first in the 15- to 19-year-old age group in the 5K on the Fairway in 23:25. New Port Richey's Kyle Johansen also finished well at the Lakefront Classic. Johansen finished 14th overall.
Pasco County had a trio of strong finishers at the 5K on the Fairway. New Port Richey's Chris Vautoch finished eighth overall.
New Port Richey's father-and-son team of Mike and Rob Clendening also finished strong. Rob finished 13th overall while Mike finished 36th.
TRIUMPH OVER CONFUSION: Spring Hill's Robert Schatzman won the Jingle Bell Run for Arthritis at Lowry Park Zoo on Nov. 27.
Finishing at all was tricky after spotters guided runners down a dead-end road by mistake.
Schatzman still won the 5K, although his time was a little high. Schatzman's time was clocked over 21:00, but the confusion left an accurate time hard to come by.
