McIntyre, Lecanto boys basketballOther players scored more points and grabbed more rebounds, but McIntyre was -- without question -- the hero of the week in Citrus County. With his team locked in a tie at 48 with North Marion, McIntyre took a pass with 0.8 seconds left a few feet from mid court, turned and fired a three-pointer into the basket to give the Panthers a 51-48 win. He finished the game with a team-high 12 points. Honorable mentionGIRLS BASKETBALL: Sherry Atwood of Seven Rivers scored 13 points and had 5 steals, 3 assists and 2 rebounds in a loss to Mount Dora Bible, and she pumped in 17 points in a win over Crystal River. Julia Lambeck of Citrus scored 14 points in a loss to Sprinstead and 10 in a 20-point victory against Dunnellon. BOYS BASKETBALL: Chris Jackson of Lecanto scored 13 points and grabbed 13 rebounds in a 64-54 win at Citrus. Rick Miller of Citrus scored 16 points against Lecanto. Frank Squire of Seven Rivers poured in 31 points against Bell. Chris Virachoff of Citrus scored 24 points in a 62-57 victory against South Sumter. Bruce Emberley of Seven Rivers scored 14 points in a win over Crystal River. GIRLS SOCCER: Stephanie Bernabe of Crystal River scored three goals against Ocala Westport. Jessica Macdonald of Citrus had one goal and two assists as the Hurricanes beat Dunnellon. Sonya Segars of Citrus scored three goals in a 4-1 victory against Leesburg. Alicia Short of Lecanto scored the go-ahead goal with 10 minutes left in a win against Springstead. Amber Gidden had two assists in the same game. In a win against Umatilla, she scored three goals, and Short had two and two assists. Julie Fioretti, a keeper for Crystal River, recorded a shutout in a 2-0 win against Lake Weir, and Eleshia Young and Suzie Rise each scored. Sheila Wollatz of Citrus scored three goals against North Marion. BOYS SOCCER: Donny Caldwell of Crystal River scored three goals in a 10-0 win at Lake Weir. Caldell and teammate Andrew Austin each logged three goals later in the week against Dunnellon. Chris Garcia, a keeper for Citrus, had a shutout on 17 saves in a 0-0 tie with Ocala Forest. WRESTLING: Ishmael Brown, Cole Heitt, Jimmy Rodriguez and Harold Skidmore of Lecanto each had pins in a win against Dunnellon. Skidmore and Mike Duca then earned individual titles in the GCAC Tournament. Justin Merry of Citrus pinned his opponent in a win against North Marion. Chauncey Minor, Sam Force, Matt Hinman and Brady Pratt had pins for Crystal River in a victory at Ocala Vanguard. Later in the week, Hinman had a pin at 275 pounds that helped the Pirates defeat Dunnellon. Josh Stone and Nate Stone recorded pins against Dunnellon. Minor then took first in the 215-pound class in Saturday's GCAC Tournament. GIRLS WEIGHTLIFTING: Keri Bolton, J.J. Bullion, Melissa Brandt, Jenny Callaway, Melissa Coburn, Shauntrell Nelson, Christina Taylor, Rebecca Thielemann and Lisandra Vazquez of Crystal River helped the Pirates win every weight class against Hernando.
