Military newsBy Times staff report© St. Petersburg Times, published December 12, 2001 Maj. Susan J. Delemeester, daughter of Marie McGhee and stepdaughter of Richard McGhee of St. Petersburg, retired from the U.S. Army with 22 years of service. Her last duty assignment was logistics officer with the 53rd Infantry Brigade, Tampa. She earned a meritorious service medal, an Army commendation medal and the Florida Cross. A 1977 graduate of Northeast High, she received a bachelor of arts degree in business from Saint Leo College. She lives in St. Petersburg with her husband, Shawn, and their children Scott, Nichole and Kara. Marine Pvt. James L. Griffin, son of Carol and James Alan Griffin of St. Petersburg, has graduated from Marine Corps Recruit Depot at Parris Island, S.C. He is attending motor transport school in Fort Leonard Wood, Mo., and will be on active reserve in Orlando. Griffin is a 2001 graduate of Gibbs High School. Army Pvt. Jermaine Maynard, son of Doris Mond and Marvin Maynard of St. Petersburg, has completed basic training at Fort Sill, Okla. A 2001 graduate of Northeast High, Maynard will be stationed at Fort Sill. Robert D. Lichford, son of Laurie A. Baker and grandson of Bonnie and Walter Baker, all of St. Petersburg, has completed basic training at Great Lakes (Ill.) Naval Training Command. He is stationed at Mine Warfare Training Center, Ingleside, Texas. Lichford is a 2001 graduate of Gibbs High School. Pvt. 1st Class Edward Conyers Jr., son of Brenda Nelson and Edward Conyers Sr. of St. Petersburg, has been promoted to his present rank and is serving in Korea.
