It's lovely weather for a light tour togetherBy BETSY BOLGER-PAULET © St. Petersburg Times, published December 13, 2000 LARGO -- During this time of parties, munchies, music, Santa Claus and bright Christmas lights, Largo is making sure that its residents don't miss out on the excitement. Tonight the city is hosting its fifth annual Holiday Party and Lights Tour at the Largo Community Center. The event has become so popular that it is expected to be sold out again this year, according to Lance Riddile, program coordinator. Festivities will begin at 5:30 p.m. with a party at the Community Center, 65 Fourth St. NW. There will be entertainment by the popular Tutterow Dancers. "And there will be a buffet extraordinaire," Riddile said, including "plenty of homemade hot and cold foods like roast beef, ham, turkey, macaroni and cheese, Italian goodies, baked beans, and lots of desserts." At 7:30 p.m., two buses will load up the 80 or so who have registered to participate in a two-hour bus tour of Christmas displays in Largo and surrounding neighborhoods. Those on the tour will stop occasionally for walking visits to some of the homes. There will be a special pause at the Largo Cultural Park for a visit with Santa Claus and a hot chocolate and cookies break. For those who just want to participate in the party at the Community Center, the fee is $6. For those who want to enjoy the party and the bus tour, the fee is $22 for Largo resident card-holders and $27 for non-resident card-holders.
