NEW PORT RICHEY -- A 44-year-old Clearwater firefighter was charged Friday with aggravated battery, accused of stabbing another man in a Pasco parking lot Nov. 22, deputies said. Scott D. Rebello, 36, of Tarpon Springs told deputies that he followed a dark blue pickup truck that cut off his truck on U.S. 19 in Port Richey.

Rebello followed the truck into the parking lot of the Embassy Crossing shopping center and smashed the pickup's driver's window, officials said. The driver, later identified as James Wayne Thomas of Clearwater, stabbed Rebello four times, according to reports. Rebello was taken to a local hospital and released.

Thomas called the Pasco County Sheriff's Office after the incident, said sheriff's spokesman Kevin Doll.

Deputies arrested Thomas on Friday. He was released from jail Friday on $5,000 bail.
