Christmas traditionsBy PAULETTE LASH RITCHIE © St. Petersburg Times, published December 14, 2000 Second grade students at Citrus Springs Elementary School were asked: "What special traditions do you have at your house for Christmas?" FORREST PRESTON, 7 "We go to church the day before Christmas to celebrate Jesus' birthday. Here's something that doesn't usually happen, but it's a surprise to me this year. My Aunt Ginger is coming from Michigan." CROCKET RICHIE, 8 "Usually all my cousins and stuff see who can eat the most at Christmas, but the grown-ups try to eat the less they can. We eat chicken and a whole lot of other stuff. Usually Granny has any kind of pie you can think of!" JACOB DIXON, 7 "I go to the mall to see Santa Claus on Christmas Eve. (On Christmas Day) I open my presents and play with toys. KYLE MARTONE, 8 "I go to my grandma's house. We get to open presents and we go to Grandma's church and then we open presents at Grandma's and Grandpa's house and we picked names out of hats and try to get the presents for them. © 2006 • All Rights Reserved • St. Petersburg Times
