Puberty, sexuality classes for boys

University Community Hospital is sponsoring a class on puberty and sexuality for boys ages 9-14 and their parents. The class, "Our Changing Bodies for Boys," will be held from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday (Part I-Puberty) and noon to 2 p.m. (Part II-Sexuality). Classes will cover the following subjects: body changes; personal hygiene; emotions; adapting to the physical changes of puberty; adolescent sexuality issues and more. Cost is $10 for one class, $15 for both classes; fee covers both child and parent. Reservations are required. Seniorcise aerobics class offered

This one-hour exercise class is specially designed to accommodate your needs by including a warm-up, low-impact aerobics, warm-down, muscle conditioning and stretching with the second half done in a chair. There are no jumping movements or exercises on the floor. Classes are from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays for $20 per month or the same time on Tuesdays and Thursdays for $15 a month at the University Community Hospital Weight Loss Center, 138th Ave., at the UCH-Medical Center and at UCH-Carrollwood, 7171 N Dale Mabry Highway in the Wellness Center. Community services offered for all ages

The Family Service Association offers a variety of services to the community for all ages including individuals, families, children, teenagers and couples. Counseling, programs, seminars and workshops are held at both of its offices at 5800 N Nebraska Ave. in Tampa and 407 N Parsons Ave., Suite 104A, in Brandon. Life Center sponsors support groups

The Life Center, 6811 N Central Ave., offers a variety of ongoing support group meetings and individual counseling. Meetings are held for the following: Victims of Crime Support Group; Enhancing Health and Healing; Rebuilding From Loss; Children's Grief Support; Teen Grief Group; Parents Grieving the Death of a Child; Partner Loss to AIDS Group; Suicide Loss Group; Motherless Daughters Group; Pet Loss Group; and Course in Miracles. Suggested donation is $10 per group session, $25 per session for individual counseling. For information, call (813) 237-3114.

Weekly group therapy program offered

Catholic Charities, 1272 E 113th Ave., offers a group therapy program at 6:30 p.m. on Mondays. The program is designed for persons who suffer from marital separation and divorce distress and its emotional impact. The sessions are moderated by Patrick Rahill, a licensed marriage and family therapist and Supreme Court-certified family mediator, and are sometimes attended by a physician, priest and attorney. Participants will learn how to cope with the emotional impact of such a radical change and finding it difficult to function. The sessions work on moderating thoughts, emotions and behavior. Karate, yoga classes at center

Seminole Recreation Center, 6925 N Florida Ave., offers karate classes for children and adults at 7:30 p.m. Wednesdays and Fridays. The cost is $2.50 for adults and $1.50 for children per class. Also, yoga classes for teens and adults are held at 7:30 p.m. on Mondays. The cost is $4 per class. For information, call Sara at (813) 239-9402.

Groups address depressive disorders

The Tampa Bay Depressive and Manic Depressive Association has evening meetings at various locations throughout Hillsborough and Pinellas counties. The monthly meetings provide education, self-help, fellowship and other direct services to people with affective disorders. Relatives and friends are invited. Discussions are limited to depressive disorders and medically accepted treatments.
