Center Place offers monthly art classes

Center Place Fine Arts & Civic Association, 619 Vonderburg Drive, offers a variety of monthly art classes for children and adults. The following classes are included: mixed-media drawing for adults, home schoolers art study, discovery hour, kid's clay, just for kids, decorative painting for children, oil painting, adventures II, drawing class for kids ages 8 to 10, drawing class for kids 11 and over, and more. Hanukkah Cradle Roll is set for Sunday

The Beth Am Sisterhood is sponsoring a Hanukkah Cradle Roll from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Sunday, which is open to the public. The event, for parents and preschool children ages 2 and older, will be held in the Hillel building at Congregation Beth Am, 2030 W Fletcher Ave. Also, there will be a Family Hanukkah Dinner at 6 p.m. Dec. 22 followed by Shabbat Services at 8 p.m. The cost is $7.50 for adults, $4 for children (under age 12). Holiday blues is topic of discussion

Bob Goodbread, a licensed marriage and family counselor, will lead a discussion about holiday blues at Spirit of Life Unitarian Universalists, 184 Burrell Road in Odessa. Goodbread will speak on the topic "Talkin' 'bout the Holiday Blues" at 9:30 p.m. Sunday. The discussion will explore the origins of the term "holiday blues" and its causes, cures and history. The following issues will be addressed: do the holidays get you down, why should you or anyone be unhappy at this festive time of the year, and, if you've got a case of the "blues," what can you do about it? There will be an adult group discussion for members and guests. Spirit of Life Unitarian Universalists is a liberal religious congregation. For information, call (813) 792-1622.

Counseling offered at Jewish Family Services

Trained, experienced professionals are offering confidential counseling and psychotherapy services to the public at the Tampa Jewish Family Services, 13009 Community Campus Drive. Services are offered to everyone regardless of race, religion, age, sexuality, nationality or handicap. Payment is available on a sliding fee scale. Donations sought for The Spring shelter

Donations are sought for The Spring of Tampa Bay, a domestic violence shelter. New toys, non-perishable food, new and used clothing and old cell phones will be accepted through Tuesday at Century 21, 8905 Regents Park Drive, Suite 250. The Spring needs items that a mother and her children would need to start a new life. Arrangements also can be made to have items picked up. Anger management workshop starts Monday

The Centre For Women, 305 S Hyde Park Ave., will offer a two-day anger management workshop for women. The experimental workshop will run from 9 a.m. to noon Monday and Tuesday. Participants will take a look at the different aspects of anger and learn how to deal with it more effectively and use it appropriately and positively. Cost is $10; reservations are required. The Centre offers a wide variety of programs and services including GED classes and support group meetings. For information or to register, call (813) 251-8437 between 1 and 4:30 p.m.

Citizens board applications due Tuesday

Hillsborough County Commissioners will accept applications through Tuesday for a wide variety of citizen advisory boards and councils. Persons seeking an appointment to these voluntary positions must be registered voters in Hillsborough County and will serve without compensation. Appointments will be scheduled for a meeting of the County Commissioners in January or February. Applications are available in the reception area on the second floor of County Center, 601 E Kennedy Blvd. For information about current vacant positions, call (813) 272-5632.
