Night of Lights to be held in park

FLORAL CITY -- Celebrate a Night of Lights at Fort Cooper State Park from 6 to 8 p.m. today at 3100 S Old Floral City Road. Rain date is same time Sunday.

View the park with Christmas decorations, lights and luminarias. There will be refreshments and holiday music. The entrance fee is one canned good item (more is welcome) or a new toy to be donated to Citrus United Basket.

Museum exhibit takes you back to 1912 Christmas

INVERNESS -- The next exhibit to be displayed at the Old Courthouse Heritage Museum is "Christmas in the 1912 Courthouse" and will be open for public viewing from Dec. 17 thru January.

A peek through a window takes you back to Florida Christmas traditions that have been remembered and passed down through the years. Featured are vignettes of a parlor, sewing room and dining room among others. The porch swing framed with wisteria is reminiscent of the casual life of days gone by.

The Heritage Museum and Store are open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday thru Friday and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. For information, call 341-6436.

Worship Choir to perform musical show three times

CRYSTAL RIVER -- The Worship Choir of First Baptist Church of Crystal River, under the direction of Michael Wright, will give three performances of the musical all is calm, all is bright at 6 p.m. Sunday and Wednesday in Victory Hall, 700 Citrus Ave. The final performance will be at 7 p.m. Dec. 21.

There is no charge for any performance. The community is invited. For more information, call the church office at 795-3367.

Audubon Society needs help in annual bird count

The Citrus County Audubon Society urges volunteers to participate in the Christmas Bird Count on Dec. 28.

This year marks the 102nd anniversary of the national Christmas Bird Count and the 16th in Citrus County. The compilers will enter their data online at www.birdsource.org, where the count results will be viewable in real-time. The count teams are open to birders of all skill levels. This year we will again tally the day's findings at the Crystal River Buffer Preserve Education Center.

Participants will be asked for a $5 donation to National Audubon Society. For information, call Ken Spilios at 637-0320.

Special mail box delivers letters to Santa Claus

DUNNELLON -- Kids, are you naughty or nice? Have you got your wish list complete? Send a letter to Santa.

If you have a letter to send to Santa, drop it in the Santa Mail Box at the Gazebo next to Dunnellon City Hall. It has been said that a reply will come to you about your wish list. Hurry and get your letter in by Dec. 21 so Santa will know what toys to put in his sleigh.

Sherwin-Williams collects toys at pair of stores

Sherwin-Williams Co. in Inverness and Crystal River is proud to support Toys for Tots in Citrus County.

Collection boxes for toys have been placed in both local stores located at 610 SE U.S. 19, Crystal River and 2410 State Road 44 W, Inverness. The public is encouraged to drop off their toys at either office before Dec. 21.
