A flotilla of boats trimmed out in holiday lights and decorations will float slowly along the Homosassa River today during the Homosassa River boat parade.

The parade starts at 6 p.m. at Marker 75 on the river, near the community of Riverhaven.

From there, the parade heads along the river to the Blue Waters area at the bridge off Fishbowl Drive, then turns around and heads back to Magic Manatee Marina. The parade should last until 8:30 or 9 p.m.

The riverfront restaurants and grills are some of the best places to watch the parade. Most feature live music, dinner and drink specials. Among these are The Seagrass Pub and Grill, 10386 Halls River Road; K.C. Crump, 11210 W Halls River Road; Charlie Brown's at Homosassa River Resort, 5297 Cherokee Way; and Margaritagrille, 10200 W Halls River Road. Other viewing spots are the boat ramp at the end of Cherokee Way and Magic Manatee Marina, 10806 W Halls River Road.
