SEMINOLE -- As the year comes to a close, the Greater Seminole Area Chamber of Commerce will have a "Breakfast with Santa" in place of its usual luncheon meeting this month.
Chamber members, guests and prospective members will meet at 7:30 a.m. Thursday at Banquet Masters, 8100 Park Blvd. There will be a sing-along and a visit from Santa. Also, the Pinellas Dance Workshop will present a number from The Nutcracker. Cost is $10 and advance reservations and payment are requested. Call the chamber office, 392-3245, for information.
Also, applications are now out for two awards given annually by the chamber. The awards are the Merit Award and the Boss of the Year Award. They will be given at the chamber's Jan. 19 installation banquet.
The Merit Award, to be presented for the 23rd time, goes to an individual or individuals who have performed outstanding and meritorious service on behalf of the Chamber of Commerce. It was established by the Seminole chamber in 1979 by its board of directors.
Nominations are judged solely on the basis of dedication, commitment and support of the chamber's goals and objectives, said Gretchen Cain, assistant executive director.
The Boss of the Year Award, given annually since 1981, is a program through which employees from companies in the greater Seminole area can nominate their bosses or employers. They do not have to be chamber members. It is not a popularity contest, but is based on the quality of the characteristics attributed to the boss and the sincerity of the nominations.
Forms for both awards can be picked up at the chamber office, 8400 113th St. N. They can be returned to: Greater Seminole Area Chamber of Commerce, P.O. Box 3337, Seminole, FL 33775-3337 and must be postmarked by Jan. 12, 2002.
People can also fill out forms on the chamber's Web site: http://www.seminolechamber.net under Chamber Chatter. For information, call the office, 392-3245.
Details of the Jan. 19 installation banquet will be told at a later date.
