ST. PETERSBURG -- A St. Petersburg woman was arrested Friday in connection with an armed home invasion that left one man dead and another beaten.

Erica Bonita Brown of 6534 51st Ter. N, No. 125, was arrested and charged with armed robbery in the events two days earlier.

The 20-year-old was held at the Pinellas County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bail.

St. Petersburg police officers were dispatched Wednesday to 2411 33rd St. S on a call that someone had been shot. Officials said that when they arrived, they found the body of 39-year-old Dwight S. Fleming on the floor.

Fleming, who had been there visiting Leo J. Dempsey Jr., had been shot.

Dempsey, 26, also was found inside the house. He later told police that at least three men forced their way into the house and shot Fleming when he confronted them.

Dempsey was taken to the Bayfront Medical Center, where he was treated and released.

Police would not relase details of the robbery.

"They're right in the thick of it right now," said Police spokesman Rick Stelljes. "For obvious reasons, there isn't a whole lot we we can talk about now."

Arrest records show Brown acknowledged being involved in the robbery and stated that she "put Leo Dempsey in fear for his life."

Stelljes said investigators are using the information from Brown in a search for other suspects.
