With help, this family 'will make it'

Editor's Note: As the holidays approach, several local organizations seek gifts, clothing and other items for needy families through the Citrus County Family Resource Center, which helped more than 1,300 people last year. If you would like to help this family or others, call 344-1001.

Sheila is divorced. She works full time and goes to school in an attempt to make life better for herself and her three children. She is willing to work for whatever she gets, and her social worker is confident that she "will make it."

Tracy, 12, is the oldest. She hovers between childhood and her teen years. She enjoys scrapbooking and loves the gel pens that are so popular now. She would really like either the Mouse Trap game or the Game of LIFE. She could use a watch, and the young woman in her would adore some perfume, fancy toiletries or hair accessories. What she really needs is nice jeans. Her favorite color is red. She wears an adult small in shirts, a woman's size 8 in pants and a woman's size 8 shoe.

Her younger sister, Sue, is 10. She loves the Gators and Harry Potter. Like Tracy, she enjoys gel pens. She would like to have a radio alarm clock and a CD player. Then she could play the Britney Spears CD, Oops! . . . I Did It Again, that she just knows Santa will bring. She also needs gym shoes. Her favorite color is blue. She wears a children's size large in shirts, size 12/14 in pants and a size 61/2 shoe.

The only man in the house, Jerry, is 8. He enjoys football, books about reptiles and skateboarding. But before mom will let him skateboard, he needs a helmet and pads. He also enjoys Pokemon, Legos and Top-40 music. His favorite color is blue. He needs new gym shoes. Jerry wears a size 10 shirt and pants and a size 5 shoe.

The entire family is artistic, and the children love drawing and crafting. Art and craft supplies would be a treat for any and all of them.

This is Family No. 4006. If you would like to help them or any other child or family, call the number listed above. Donations of cash, gift certificates for food or new, unwrapped toys and clothes are always welcome.
