Unseasonable warm spell on its way out of town

Cooler weather is on the way. Really.

The unseasonable warmth of recent weeks is about to get pushed out of the Tampa Bay area and replaced by cooler, drier air.

A front moving through the area today will bring cooler weather for the next several days, possibly through Christmas.

The coldest weather is expected early Friday, when some parts of the bay area will see temperatures drop into the high 40s. The forecast for the next few days calls for highs in low 70s and overnight lows in the mid- to upper 50s.

"It's going to get cooler, but in reality highs will be around normal for this time of year," said John McMichael, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Ruskin. "It's been so warm, and this is going to be a lot cooler."

No wrongdoing in case of student living with coach

NEW PORT RICHEY -- The Pasco County Sheriff's Office said Monday it appears former East Lake High School teacher and girls basketball coach Willie Hopkins broke no laws in allowing a 17-year-old East Lake student to stay at his apartment in Holiday.

Hopkins, 23, who resigned last week, allowed the female student to stay at his apartment for two to three weeks, said a Pasco sheriff's spokesman. He said he did not know why the girl was staying there, or what the nature of their relationship was.
