TALLAHASSEE -- Florida State senior quarterback Marcus Outzen pleaded no contest to a charge of simple battery, a misdemeanor, Thursday.

Outzen, 22, was arrested Oct. 13 after an early-morning altercation with a neighbor. He was suspended for the next day's game against Duke, one in which he likely would have seen considerable playing time.

As part of the plea, an adjudication of guilt was withheld and Outzen was ordered to perform 40 hours of community service, pay court costs of $295 and pay $338.30 in restitution to Alejandro Llinas. Outzen also is to have no contact with Llinas, according to John Kenny, Outzen's attorney. Outzen also received six months' probation, but that can be terminated upon completion of the terms.
