    Artists sought for benefit auction

The Haven of Religious Community Services is looking for artists to display and sell their work at the third annual "Home Is Where The Art Is" auction to benefit the Haven's domestic violence programs. The show will be from 6 to 9 p.m. March 8 at the Largo Cultural Center. Artwork can include paintings, pottery, jewelry and clothing. Each participating artist will donate one piece of work for the auction and will be given a booth. The Haven provides counseling, advocacy, food, clothing and support groups for adults and children. It also provides professional training, a 24-hour hotline and cellular phones for stalking victims. For information about the auction, call 442-4128.

3-year-old girl run over by truck

OLDSMAR -- A 3-year-old girl was airlifted to St. Josephs Hospital on Friday afternoon after she was run over by a pickup truck in the parking lot of a business in the 200 block of Tower Drive. The girl was with her mother, who is employed by the business. She darted in front of the truck, which was driven by one of her mother's co-workers, said Lt. Bill Edling of East Lake Fire and Rescue. The girl was alert and her vital signs were stable when Bayflite arrived, Edling said. She had tire tracks on her abdomen and rescue workers were concerned about internal injuries. She was listed in stable condition Friday evening. The incident appeared to be accidental and no charges were expected to be filed, Edling said.

    Dunedin changes its gift policy

DUNEDIN -- City Commissioners on Thursday adopted a new version of the city's gift policy. The new policy bars most city officials from accepting gifts and favors from any person or entity that does business with the city. Commissioners will now either buy their own tickets or bill the city if they want to attend spring training games of the Toronto Blue Jays, for example. The policy does not, however, restrict the acceptance of gifts from other cities. The city of Toronto has provided tickets, hotel stays, meals and other perks to Dunedin officials in the past. The measure was passed by a 4-1 vote with Vice Mayor Deborah Kynes casting the only dissenting vote.
