TAMPA -- The good news is that the MRI exam administered to Lightning defenseman Petr Svoboda was negative. Head medical trainer Dave Boyer said that means the concussion did not cause blood clotting or disruption of blood flow.
But Boyer said Svoboda, who suffered the concussion and a broken nose Dec. 14 in Phoenix, is still experiencing some "neurological disruption," which is making him dizzy. Boyer said Svoboda is "not driving a car and no way he can skate."
Boyer said the concussion is a bad one, and there is no timetable for his return.
"This isn't a day-to-day thing," Boyer said. "It's a week-to-week thing. Once the symptoms resolve themselves, we'll go from there."
