Pedestrian hit and killed while crossing U.S. 19

HUDSON -- A 36-year-old Spring Hill man was hit and killed early Saturday while crossing U.S. 19, according to a Florida Highway Patrol report.

Michael D. Murray of 152 Arkays Ave. in Spring Hill was in the center southbound lane at 3:35 a.m. when he was struck by a sweeper truck traveling south on U.S. 19 just south of Aripeka Road, troopers said. The sweeper truck was driven by Michael J. Holmes, 22, of 5247 Abigail Drive in Spring Hill, according to the report. Murray was pronounced dead at the scene.

Murray was struck with the front right side of the vehicle. The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating.

Zephyrhills man, 38, accused of touching teen

ZEPHYRHILLS -- A 38-year-old man was arrested Thursday night after a 15-year-old girl said he ran his hand up inside her shorts and told her that he wanted to take her to the woods and party with her, according to deputy reports.

Thomas Avery Crouse of 8607 Ashley St. in Zephyrhills faces a charge of lewd and lascivious acts.

Crouse was taken to the county jail in Land O'Lakes and released Saturday morning on his own recognizance.
