MIAMI -- John Salmons had 15 points, 10 assists and 9 rebounds to lead Miami to its 11th consecutive win to start the season, a 64-56 victory over Charlotte on Saturday.

Salmons was one rebound shy of becoming the first player in school history to have a triple-double. The senior guard fouled out with 59 seconds left, leaving as the first Miami player with back-to-back games with double-digit assists.

With 3:58 left, Salmons connected on a pair of free throws that gave him 1,001 career points. The four-year starter ranks 24th on the school's scoring list.

Darius Rice had 13 points and Elton Tyler added 10. Miami tied a season high with nine blocks.

The Hurricanes are off to their best start ever, and the 11-game winning streak is their longest since the 1959-60 season.

Charlotte had beaten Miami three consecutive seasons, including a 95-63 rout last year.

Eddie Basden led the 49ers with 12 points.

Charlotte had its second-worst shooting performance of the season, hitting just 32 percent from the field and 4-of-26 from 3-point range.

Early in the first half, the Hurricanes used an 11-2 run and led 16-8 on Rafael Berumen's layup. Miami led 30-23 at the half.

Charlotte was within four in the opening minutes of the second half on Demon Brown's 3-pointer, but the Hurricanes went on an 8-3 run and led by as many as 14 in the closing minutes.

TEXAS TECH 101, STETSON 47: Andy Ellis scored 17 of his 23 in the first half as the host Red Raiders handed the Hatters their worst defeat ever. Texas Tech led 16-14 with 13:30 left in the first but held Stetson to 14 points the rest of the half and 33 the rest of the game.

It was Tech's third-largest point differential in school history and the first time this season they scored more than 100 points.

The Red Raiders held the Hatters to the second-fewest points scored before halftime this year with 28. Louisiana-Lafayette managed just 24.

The matchup was a contrast of coaching experience. Hatter coach Derek Waugh was coaching his 29th game compared with Bob Knight and his 1,063rd.

JACKSONVILLE 85, P.R.-MAYAGUEZ 43: Travis Robinson scored all 11 of his points during a 16-0 first-half run for the Dolphins in the Carolina Shootout in Carolina, Puerto Rico. Robinson had consecutive 3-pointers to start the run that stretched the Dolphins' lead to 32-12 with 6:23 left in the first half.

ORAL ROBERTS 66, FIU 55: Tyrone Tiggs and Luke Spencer-Gardner scored 13 to take third at the Carolina Shootout. FIU committed 23 turnovers -- 18 in the first half. After cutting a 13-point lead to five at halftime, FIU started the second by going more than five minutes without a field goal.
